What Security Features Do Your Windows and Doors Have? All our windows and doors come with insurance-approved locks to ensure maximum security for your home. Sash and Casement Windows: Both types of windows are equipped with a fastener, a locking mechanism that secures the window in a closed position. This fastener typically includes a latch or clasp that engages with a corresponding catch or strike plate, providing a tight seal. Sash Windows: Our sash windows are fitted with sash restrictors. These safety devices limit the opening distance of the windows, allowing for ventilation while preventing the window from being fully opened. They can be adjusted internally to permit full opening when necessary. Doors: Our doors are secured with a combination of locks for enhanced protection. The deadlock secures the door with a strong bolt, making it difficult to force open. The night latch lock adds an additional layer of security, allowing for convenient locking and unlocking from the inside while keeping the door securely locked from the outside. French Doors: Our French doors are fitted with a multi-point lock system. This system secures the door at several points, such as the top, middle, and bottom, when locked, providing comprehensive security. All our double-glazed units come with toughened glass, adding an extra layer of security and durability.
-
What U value rating are your windows? All of our double glazed units offer U-values as low as 1.2 W/m²K.
-
Will there be any damage to the surrounding walls when the window and door frames are replaced? We ensure any necessary surrounding interior plasterwork is appropriately addressed, including touch-up paint on interior walls where plasterwork has been modified (client to supply the paint). Additionally, we point the exterior around the window and door frame using a traditional sand and cement method.
-
When removing window and door frames, will it affect any wiring in my home?If there is wiring near a window or door that interferes with the installation, you will need a qualified electrician to remove or relocate the wiring before we can begin the installation.
-
Will I Need Scaffolding for Windows? Most of our Installations are done from inside the building, with no need for scaffolding. Once a survey is conducted, we will advise you if scaffolding is required.
-

How clean will my property be left after the installation? Our installers take great care to keep your property clean during and after the installation. If you have refurbishment work or new windows or doors installed into existing frames, a FENSA certificate is not required.
-
When will I receive my FENSA certificate? We will register your installation with FENSA once it is complete. Certificates can take up to six weeks to arrive by post.

Do I Need Planning Permission to Replace Windows or Doors?Generally, you do not need planning permission to replace existing windows or doors. However, there are some exceptions. Conservation areas – If your property is in a conservation area, you may not need planning permission. Changing windows and doors with new ones that match the old ones in material and appearance ‘like for like’ is usually acceptable as part of ‘permitted development’, unless the area is under an article 4 Direction to revoke this. Usually, when a council has an article 4 direction in place they will list this on their website. Listed Building - If your property is a listed building, special permissions and materials may be required for replacements. Regulations can vary by council, so we advise to check with your local authority for specific guidelines. We have extensive experience working in conservation areas and with Grade II listed buildings. If planning permission is needed, we can manufacture bespoke windows and doors to meet specific requirements.
